Kormoran
Friesland Boating rents its ships from Koudum and Sneek. Renting a boat is not complicated but it is nice to know that we have thought about everything. What you should take into account during your holiday on the water, what you should bring with you, whether you need a navigation licence, what is a mandatory contribution,... you can read all about this on this page. Should you still have any questions or doubts, please send a message to info@friesland-boating.nl or call +31 (0) 514 522607.

What you need to bring

Standard on board you will find a complete inventory for the number of people the boat is suited for, an almanac, police regulations, an instruction manual and a boating map of Friesland or Overijssel.

General water traffic rules

Each year many tourists visit Friesland and Overijssel to enjoy our superb water sports districts. Especially during the busy high season, yachtsmen should watch out for each another. Traffic rules apply to yachtsmen sailing the waters, just like traffic rules apply to road users.

Boot information

We do the final cleaning for you

You sail out of our harbour in a boat that is clean inside and out. To ensure that the ext lessee is able to leave on time you can return the boat without cleaning it. For this service you pay a fixed amount per boat which is already included in the fixed surcharge. However, we ask that you to do the washing up, strip the beds and leave the boat swept and dusted.

You do not need a licence

You need a certificate for boats longer than 15 m. and/or can go faster than 20 km/hour. None of our boats are outside of these limits.

-For 3 weeks and more: 7% discount

What does a holiday costs?

In addition to the hire price, you pay a fixed rate per boat. You will also have to pay for several municipal bridges, which charge roughly 1.20 to 2 euros each. You will pay mooring fees where municipalities or landowners have marked marinas and banks. The price of the ship lenght per metre is approximately 1 euro per night + 0,50 to 1 euro tourist tax per person. Upon returning to our dock, your boat will be retanked. you will of course need to pay the standard price for diesel per litre.

Free parking

You can use the free parking places at both our Koudum and Giethoorn locations. These parking places are immediately next to the reception area, but not guarded at night.

IJsselmeer

All our boats are equipped for the Netherlands inland waterways. Sailing on larger expanses of water, such as the IJsselmeer or the Waddenzee, or on larger rivers is normally not permitted. Only if you can prove a lot of experience and if you have the required navigation licence we will consider a request to sail on such waters. You must provide your own IJsselmeer savetykit.

So you have booked a trip. What’s next?

You will get that true holiday feeling as soon as you arrive at our harbour.
Because you have rented a boat, however, we will have to bother you briefly with some instructions.
If you are well-prepared and have watched our DVD, this will be no problem at all.
Customers who have rented with us before can check in and start their well-earned holiday straightaway.

Instructions

On arrival after we have completed a few necessary formalities, you will be given theoretical and board intructions. Once you are familiar with the rules and regulations of the waterways you may go ahead with a wonderful carefree holiday. All of this will take about 1 hour, so please arrive on time. You will receive your appointment time along with your conformation. Should you be arriving later than the appointment time, please contact us.

Aqua Polis Cancellation insurance

This is a comprehensive cancellation insurance that covers, among other things, luggage, damage deposit, medical costs, accidents, consequential loss, and fire damage. The cost of this policy starts at 4% of the rent, plus policy fees (€ 5,00). We will send you an application form after you have booked.

Insurance

All our ships have comprehensive hull and machinery insurance; the lessee only has to pay the own-risk fee (damage deposit) in case of an accident. Personal accidents and loss of personal property are not covered by our policy/ensurance: we assume that you have insurance to cover such eventualities. To sail a boat you must be at least 18 years old.

Larger boats for experienced skippers

Some of our boats require an experienced skipper. These ships are the FB 1500 the luxe (Elise), FB 1400 (Gaast), Fribo 1120 (Fryslan), Denautic (Saint Tropez), Pikmeer (Malibu and Jamaica), Kormoran 1140 and 1260 (Schleie and Fischreiher), Pedro-Line and the Morracruisers Danielle and Christa. These boats are large and hihg, but once you have driven a 10 metre motorcruiser a few times together with a good trial run, it should be no problem to handle one of our larger boats.

Comfort in any season

The perfect insulation (2.5 inches of minaral wool) combined with full central heating ensures comfortable boating throughout the year. Hire one of our boats during autumn or winter for a fascinating experience. Our boats have dual steering, on the aftdeck with a tiller, or inside with hydraulic powered wheelsteering.

Rent, deposit and fuel

We have divided the seasons into four, which means that you can enjoy the low preseason prices longer. For more information, see our pricelist.. Our prices are on a per week basis and are inclusive of 19% VAT and comprehensive insurance for the boat. The damage deposit is € 600,00 with exception of the Morracruisers FBB 1150, FBB 1250, Fribo 1500 and the Pedro-line, which have a damage deposit of € 1000,00. You will depart from our boatyard with full tanks of water and diesel, and at least one full bottle of gas. On your return the diesel tank will be topped up to determine how much diesel has been used and therefor how much you must pay.

Compulsory surcharge per boat

In additional to the rental, there is a compulsory surcharge (depending on the type of ship) to cover matters such as a set of sheets, pillowcases, 1 full gas bottle, comprehensive instructions, hull insurance, tourist tax and a final cleaning.

Informative film

To give you an idea of what to expect, we have made a DVD about the sailing area, boats, instructions, etc. The film is available on DVD and and will be sent to you once you have booked a holiday with us.
